Job Introduction
An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Reporting Business Intelligence Developer within the Finance services team based at Bristol.
You will liaise with colleagues throughout NGED to ensure the development, delivery, dissemination and adoption of relevant data outputs using relevant NGED systems, provide information from existing and emerging data to improve the performance and operation of the business.
Support analytical discussions and influence analytical processes throughout the business, attend meetings to ensure outputs meet external and internal business and regulatory reporting requirements.
Correct use of NGED policies, processes and procedures relating to data governance and regulatory compliance is paramount and visualising data for internal and external consumption to a variety of end users.
A HNC or Equivalent qualification is required for this role - Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.
As part of our hybrid working approach and in line with our policy, this role allows you to apply for a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver data output in line with existing and emerging Data Governance processes;
- Recognise, encourage and advise on business opportunities to ensure more efficient and effective performance of the organisation through improved data reporting and understanding;
- Understand and employ a range of data interrogation skills;
- Ensuring data standards for the business are developed and work within those standards;
- Maintain repositories for all relevant data and security to enable the business and third parties to better understand existing and future reporting requirements;
- Communicate effectively across all NGED business areas, ensuring all areas are engaged to support and deliver timely data outputs;
- Security and access provisioning of end users;
- Co-ordinating/Promoting/Migrating/Implementing change requests to Production and Test environments;
- Deliver service without supervision (including site visits), and the supervision of staff such as 3rd party contractors, as appropriate;
- Create/Edit/Maintain process documentation and knowledge base articles;
- Create and Manage changes via the change management system, ensuring all approvals are obtained and change process is followed, keeping stakeholders informed of progress;
- Developing and testing of new report requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
- HNC or equivalent is ideal;
- Sound numeracy and literacy skills;
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills;
- An understanding of programming languages and logic;
- Experience of working with BI and analytical reporting tools;
- Strong interpersonal skills when dealing with all parties at all levels of seniority;
- Knowledge of company data procedures and systems is beneficial.
