Job Introduction

An opportunity is available for a Technician (Fitting) based at Plymouth, Devon in the Faults and Maintenance team.

You will be accountable to the Team Manager for the maintenance and replacement of plant up to 66kV and the diagnosis and restoration of supplies to customers affected by HV and LV faults. The role will also include the issue of safety documents and the carrying out of network operations up to 66kV, the repair of plant and cables, and carrying out protection maintenance, testing and repair.

Candidates are required to have grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both subjects. In addition, you must hold a City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering. 

Evidence of your qualification certificates will be required prior to appointment.

Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

The Ideal Candidate

This role requires a person with a flexible attitude who is prepared to work on his or her own or as part of a team. They will need to be very customer focused and be able to resolve customer complaints, wherever possible directly. The use of the Company computer systems will also be vital to the role.

In addition, you will need to be mobile throughout the area, as you will be required to undertake standby duties.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
