Job Introduction

An opportunity is available for an Operator (Asset Inspector) based at our Lincoln depot.

As an Operator - Asset Inspector you will be required to inspect National Grid's Distribution's network assets up to and including 132kV as well as other assets within the Company that have a statutory inspection regime associated with them.

To apply, you will need to hold English & Maths GCSE (1-9/G-A*) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills.

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Please note, where job roles involve working at height and the use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment, there are restrictions on the maximum weight of the individual.

Main Responsibilities

The work may involve working alone and being away from the depot. The successful applicant will need to be able to interrogate the Company's computer systems to identify inspection tasks due, the inspector may be required to drive to site to undertake the inspection of Company Assets and to record results, any immediate risks or dangerous issues would need to be reported immediately to your manager. The inspector will be expected to enter all information either into handheld electronic device on site or via the Company's computer system back in the office.

The Ideal Candidate

The working environment requires quick, decisive and responsible actions to meet the demands of the role. You will be set challenging targets and will need to be flexible in your approach. You will need to deal with customer in a courteous and professional manner and portray a positive image of our Company. You will need to be mobile throughout the area and therefore a full driving licence is required.

We are looking for staff who will become fully capable to undertake a range of asset inspections.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers.

This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check.  Depending on the role, different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
